spring colours: pastels and army green

Well, it's that time of year again. The time of year when Spring emerges, and pastels along with it. Pastels are always, always trendy for Spring, and no matter which hue of pastels are being shown, you can never go wrong with classic colours, like pink, blue, yellow, and purple. Another colour that is also always, always trendy for Spring is army green. Think earth tones, fresh grass growing, and of course, the army green cargo jacket that is literally always on the spring fashion scene.

So instead of making one post about pastels and one about army green, I figured I'd combine the two and show you how to style the two colour trends together. There's nothing I love more than contrast in an outfit, and there is definitely contrast between delicate, soft pastel colours and tough, heavy, army green. Depending on the hue of green and which pieces in your outfit you wear the pastels and army green, you can create endless looks for any and all occasions.

Wearing a green pair of pants, whether skinny jeans or cargo pants, can dress down your outfit. This is a perfect go-to outfit for when you can't put a lot of time or thought into an outfit, especially when all you need to do is layer with a blouse and sweater to finish it off. I also love playing around with different shades of the same colour, and pink is a great neutral to do that with.

A darker green makes your outfit more office appropriate, especially in a dress in this cut. Finish off the look with a coat and structured bag, and you've just found your Spring 9-5 outfit.

Nothing is quite as feminine or springy like a yellow dress, but don't let that stop you from toughening it up a bit. Again, contrast. A draped trench in a dark army green will play off the simple yellow dress, and the chunky heeled booties are definitely not delicate.

And of course, my favourite colour combo (as if you weren't expecting it). For a casual-chic outfit, boyfriend jeans, a blouse, and pumps are always a good way to go. For a street style ready look, mix a light army green with lavender and light denim, and a bold lip!
