apple picking
When I say that October is a busy month for me, that's a huge understatement. It's my sister's and my birthdays, my boyfriend's birthday, and my Grandparents' anniversary (this year they're celebrating 55 years, so we're doing a big celebration). There's a convention for one of my favourite shows that I go to every Thanksgiving weekend, going out to celebrate birthdays with work people (which I spoke about last week here), and inventory at work. And of course, Halloween and Thanksgiving, the latter of which I celebrated for the first time this year with Phil. Add to all of that the fact that October is my favourite month and that I always want to do a million fall activities, but I always feel like the month goes by too fast and I never have time to do them.

early birthday outfit
Last year we realized there are 4 people at work that all have birthdays in October (including myself), and thought it would make a fun tradition to go out for dinner with everyone sometime during the month (I talked about last year's dinner here). So this year we decided to have our dinner last weekend, even though all our birthdays aren't until later in the month (mine is on the 22nd).

Weekend Highlights
This weekend included one of those "many celebrations" I mentioned in last week's Long Weekend Highlights post. Besides myself, there are three other people who I work with who celebrate their birthdays in October, and so we planned to do a co-worker dinner to celebrate the four birthdays. The people I work with are some of my best friends and I'm so thankful we were all able to come together and have a great night, eating yummy food and having so much fun together.
I decided to wear a gorgeous electric blue lace dress with a cutout on the back, with minimal jewelry, and I finished it off with a leather jacket and strappy black heels. I was definitely cold and perhaps a little overdressed for Moxie's (so were my friends), but hey, it was my birthday celebration and who doesn't make small sacrifices to look good?

Long Weekend Highlights
If you've been keeping up with my Instagram, you know I was at a convention all weekend, and so I didn't have time to ready a post for yesterday or today. It was go go go all weekend, but I had the most absolutely incredible time. Yesterday I finally had a chance to relax and get some work done (and go through convention withdrawal).
But last night my family went out for dinner to celebrate my sister's and my birthdays (her actual birthday was yesterday, and mine is a week Wednesday) and so I decided to do a quick photoshoot of the outfit I wore to dinner to show you guys. I did a little menswear inspired look in classic black and white, with pops of print and colour in my accessories and lipstick. I love how the leopard prints in the belt and clutch contrast each other, and even though they're different, they're still the same animal and colours and they definitely can be worn together. I decided to finish off the outfit with a bushy ponytail and luckily, it wasn't too cold out so I didn't need a jacket over my blazer. October is going to be a crazy month with fashion week, birthdays, Halloween, and lots of celebrations so keep checking my Instagram for snippets of my month!

Weekend Highlights
This past weekend was pretty crazy for my family, but among the better things were the birthdays of two of my favourite people in the world.
Thursday was my mom's 50th birthday, which we celebrated by going out for a nice dinner to an Italian restaurant and which she celebrated later on the weekend by a "grown up" dinner with her friends and other couples. Among the gifts my family got her was a huge wine cup that says "Fabulous 50" (you can also see her love of wine by her birthday cake). For dinner Thursday night, because it is actually finally beginning to feel like spring out, I opted for open-toe heels (one thing I was actually able to cross off my Spring Wish List), with black pants, a paisley patterned top and white blazer. Although I did top it off with a faux fur jacket since it was still a bit chilly out!
The other birthday I celebrated this weekend was that of my best friend. Unfortunately for me she no longer lives in Toronto (she moved to the States last summer), but luckily she did come in for the weekend in order to celebrate her birthday. It was so amazing seeing her and being able to spend time with her, and I hope I get to do it again very soon!
Have a great week everyone!
